Meet some of our team
RF Design engineer
Scott has over 5 years of experience within his role, working in the past at EE and Vodafone. His skills include in-building survey, design and deployment, small cell deployment, data and cable installation as well as multiple router configurations. He is well conversed in all cellular technologies including: GSM, UMTS and LTE.
In his free time Scott enjoys working on cars, often restoring old models back to life.
John has been a part of our team for over 8 years, he currently helps to manage the day to day running of our broadcast teams, the Northampton warehouse, ordering of all consumables and steelworks and LOLER & Electrical inspections. He also helps our QHSE Manager with PPE requirements and producing RAMS.
Outside of work John enjoys being outdoors with his family, be it bike riding, walking or camping at the weekends.
Test & Optimisation
Andy has worked for all the major network operators over his 10 year career in the telecoms industry. His skills include: troubleshooting, survey, benchmarking, planning and he is highly skilled with all Nemo technologies. He is experienced in both drive and walk testing and has worked throughout the UK.
Andy is a keen golfer outside of work, and if you don’t find him out on the green he will be on a track racing cars.
Lewis joined us after completing his Hons Degree in Business Management and Communications. For him the best part about being a part of the Virtua team is the opportunities it brings. Lewis’s current role involves project planning , delivery, budget management, Liaise with vendors, mitigate risks via RAID logging and Communicate updates to project stakeholders.
Lewis enjoys leading a fit and healthy life style and spending time in Devon with friends.
Programme & project management
Senior Rigging Coordinator
With over 15 years of experience in various telecommunications roles, Jane is ideal to support our onsite rigging teams. She enjoys the systems that Virtua currently use to enable her to perform her duties.
When not in the office Jane loves to ride roller coasters with her 6 year old and explore National Trust properties.
Technical Bid Manager
Sue has 18 years’ experience in Telecommunications, providing Global Pre-Sales support for Macro and Small Cell Hardware and Software solutions for 2G, 3G and 4G Wireless technologies.
A Prince2 Practitioner, Sue is well-known for never missing a deadline, for always delivering against commitments, for collaborating effectively as part of a team, and for being able to support multiple projects in parallel. In her current role Sue is the first point of contact for customers requiring responses to RFQ documents and Business Development support relating to this form of customer engagement.
Sue competes with her two dogs in Agility, she is also involved with her local Amateur Dramatic society, acting and singing in productions a couple of times a year.
Andy has been the Managing Director of Virtua since 2008, and is responsible for making sure we deliver for our customers. That means making sure we understand their needs and have the best people in place to deliver for them.
Andy is a computer science graduate. His management skills come from a career in product management and leadership with Hewlett-Packard, Lotus/IBM and Motorola.
Outside of work Andy is a keen triathlete, often out cycling with fellow directors, Rob and Brian.
Rob started working in telecoms over 30 years ago and then along with fellow director Brian, founded Virtua in 2005. Currently, Rob manages the consultancy side of the business and company project and programme governance.
In his free time Rob enjoys spending time with his family, supporting Rugby Union and cycling.
Chief Technology Officer
Brian’s 30 year background in the industry spans across system engineering, disciplines of cellular network E2E design, test and deployment, from concept first generation through to latest 4G networks. Alongside fellow director Rob, Brian founded Virtua in 2005.
Cycling and running are some of Brian’s hobbies. He’s currently got 21 London marathons under his belt.
Neil manages the finances and commercial contracts for the business, as a chartered accountant and with his background in change management, Neil is ideally placed heading up our finance team.
Neil’s passions include cooking with his daughter and wine tasting whilst on holiday in the South of France.
Tony is responsible for running the board of directors in the interest of all stakeholders including the management shareholders, Connection Capital and the broader base of Virtua employees and contractors, with safety being our top priority.
In his free time Tony enjoys being adventurous you will often find him skiing and cycling up and down mountains.
Ciaran is a Chartered Engineer with 30 years of Engineering and Management experience in the Broadcast and Telecoms industries. He is responsible for delivering projects and their revenues through skilled, well managed and highly motivated teams.
Outside of work Ciaran relaxes with his family playing golf or sailing.
Peter is responsible for our business development department, his wide range of knowledge of the communications infrastructure markets and 17 years of experience make him a real asset to Virtua. For Peter the most enjoyable part of his role is the commercial realisation of engineering-based ideas and the application of technical solutions to the real world.
Peter is an ECB Level 2 cricket coach and the Chairman of a pre-school charity. Outside of work he supports Harlequins and has played rugby for the majority of his life.
Director of Human Resources
For Ted the best about working at Virtua is the people, as a Chartered Accountant working as a Finance Director for many years, he had direct hands on responsibility for Human Resources and has encountered a wide variety of issues and consequently the necessary experience on how to deal with them. He currently deals with all matters relating to Human Resources, trying to pre-empt issues before they arise and if not ensuring prompt impartial action when they do.
Ted has a keen interest in the art of horology, and if he’s not reading Shakespeare you’ll find him watching or playing football.
Director of Quality and Health and Safety
Marc has a solid understanding of the requirements of H&S legislation and how that translates to reality. Marc strives to create a safe working environment for everyone at Virtua, ensuring they always go home safe is his top priority.
Being a family man, in his spare time Marc loves to spend time with his family as well as getting involved in charity work.
