What he does:
I’m proud to have led the deployment of the world’s first commercial GPRS (2.5G) cellular network. I have also set up an EMEA wide PMO organization and Programme managed a $40m deal leading to the most comprehensive and subsequently most commercially successful mobile internet service in Europe. I have a reputation for driving through some of the Telco industry’s most challenging programmes.
Today I’m delivering as a project manager for one of Virtua’s most important customers. I’m trained in Mechanical and Production engineering and previously worked for ten years at Motorola. I’ve also worked for seven years as an Operational Director in Sales so my experience is quite broad.
How he works:
Two of the directors, Rob and Brian, used to work for me at one time so I’m definitely part of the ‘Virtua family’. I also know quite a few other members of the team from previous projects I’ve worked on.
I think this company has a brilliant sense of team spirit and I’m enjoying getting involved in all the projects. What I enjoy most about my job is the constant variety and the challenge of learning new skills and finding solutions to problems.
Who he is:
My wife Gabrielle and I enjoy scuba diving when we get the chance – particularly in the Maldives and the Cayman Islands. My idea of a perfect day would be a tough game of squash followed by a long leisurely lunch with some good wine and then a comfy chair for the afternoon. My greatest personal achievement? That’s easy – ‘living this long!’

What he does:
I’m working on two projects at the moment in the capacity of an Engineering Test Manager and a Technical Specialist in FMC technology. I get involved in all the aspects of the projects including support, documentation, databases and fielding technical questions. My background is in electrical and mechanical engineering and I have a City and Guilds qualification (NICEIC electrical supervisor). Before joining Virtua I worked as a site and test engineer and Field manager working on mobile projects on behalf of Nokia UK including O2, 3, Orange C&W Jersey. Also, installation, commission & integration engineer, working on Nokia 3G Optima compact & Supreme Node B’s on 3 Telecom & O2 3G networks.
I have also worked as part of network implementation team in Thailand on behalf of CP Orange carrying out civil and electrical site surveys for installation of BTS equipment and managing local civil and Installation teams. Also, I’ve worked in Malaysia on a 2G BTS optimisation program with responsibility for liaising with local engineers to survey and re-calibrate existing BTS sites.
How he works:
I’ve been with Virtua for two years now and I can honestly say it’s the best company I have ever worked for. I think we are a great team and we all respect each other’s abilities. I love the buzz from delivering successful projects and resolving complex technical issues.
Who he is:
I am married to Candy and we have two daughters, Grace and Evie. My idea of the perfect way to spend leisure time is a sunny day on the beach with my family. We are off to Cornwall this year which I’m looking forward to. I enjoy watching good adventure films and reading and one day I hope to invest in a Porsche or Ferrari but I guess it will be family cars for a while yet!

What he does:
I’m a Site Project Manager for Virtua with direct experience of infrastructure projects involving installation, commissioning, integration, support and fault logging, diagnosis, resolution and management. I work closely with the engineers but also interface to the client particularly on quality type issues.
My background is quite varied. I’m a qualified Electrician and I used to work for BT on site installations and also worked for ‘Eaton Powerware’ as well as a Business Development Manager at Grigg Communications.
I’ve also carried out a retro-fit on the ‘Opal’ project, which included terminating BT 100 pair cables, Fibre & Cat 5 cable installation and full commission and integration of Huawei MSAN into the Opal network. I’ve also deployed and rigged Cellsites for O2 and carried out site surveys.
How he works:
I’m happy to work either on my own or as part of a team and at Virtua I get to do both. One of the best things about working here is that there are great opportunities to work on lots of exciting projects. For me though it is the satisfaction of delivering a successful project that gives me the biggest kick. I’m inspired by people who set out to achieve something and then follow through - and that’s what Virtua is all about.
Who he is:
I have a wife, Lesley, a stepson Nick and a daughter, Mollie. I’m a keen Carp fisherman and I enjoy fishing holidays, particularly in the Champagne region of France. I quite like the American Disneyland experience too. I also like watching some of the classic war films like ‘Platoon’ and reading the autobiographies of famous footballers. I used to run my own Telecoms Company which is something I am very proud of.
