Meet Our Experts – Danny, Design Manager

We wouldn’t be Virtua without our team of staff with their wealth of expertise. So we thought we would introduce you to some of them. First up… Danny Munetsi our Design Manager. See a bit more about what makes him tick below.

Tell me a bit about yourself?

“It is my pleasure to introduce myself as Daniel ‘Danny’ Munetsi. Currently, I am Virtua’s In-building Design Manager. It has been a year since I started here, and I have worked in RF Design on and off for over 12+ years now.

In lieu of attending university, I enlisted with the Corps of Royal Signals. I became a Communications Systems Engineer back in 2007.

Following my service of more than 8 years, I decided to hang up my beret and found myself looking for a job in civilian (Civvy) street. The logical move was to stay in telecoms, and I worked for a few big UK companies such as FCDO, NEC, Telent, and soon I found myself at Virtua.

My private life involves being a father to two kids, playing six-a-side football every week, and playing golf.”

Why did you choose RF Design?

“My favourite part of RF design is its turn-key nature of it. You go from Quotation, Site Survey, Design, Build, Testing and Commissioning, Handover, and then onto the Maintenance side of a system. I enjoy the fault-finding and investigation side of the role also, I am fascinated by the fault-finding and investigation side of it and am always looking forward to working on a challenging site.”

What’s been your most challenging project you’ve worked on… and why?

“All projects come with their own intricacies, we have designed and are commissioning some major sites UK-wide. Any challenges we come across we enjoy solving with the help and support of the wider Virtua team, MNO’s and Vendors.  These challenges help build a knowledge base for future projects.”

How do you see the future of the industry changing?

“Can I say 6G? Are we sufficiently over 5G now?

It’s hard to say exactly what 6G will look like, or even what it will be called, with speeds of 1 Terabit per second (Tbps) touted. The readings and blogs are agreeing that the bandwidth and latency of 6G networks are going to be significantly higher than those of 5G networks as they can operate at higher frequencies, so its something to look forward to. Once this is achieved, 1 microsecond latency is staggering!”
