PROJECT

In July 2019, we received a request from Medhurst to deliver a new network upgrade to Priory Secondary School in Portsmouth. Our team was quickly mobilised after being given the 6-week summer holiday to complete the project.

Priory School caters to over 1,200 students each year, and as such needs a robust network solution to keep the students and staff working efficiently. The current system needed multiple upgrades to improve the existing network and HP switching across the campus.

SOLUTION

The challenge was carefully reviewed and priced to meet the customer’s expectations. An extensive programme was implemented to ensure the delivery of circa 600 new Category 6 outlets within the various buildings onsite during the summer break. This also included various OM4 fibre links and power supply.

During installation the project team encountered the presence of ACM’s (Asbestos Containing Materials) however, using alternative installation methods our team were able to continue as planned. Our engineers also had to take extra care to preserve the historical nature of the building which dates back to the 1800s.

BENEFIT

Virtua completed the install within the 6-week time frame prior to the start of the new school term in September. The school now benefits from increased, seamless bandwidth capacity, exceeding our customers expectations.

"The Installation of the new network was an amazing piece of team work. To coordinate this work in such a short space of time was challenging, but Jamie and the team were great, and I am delighted we chose to use Virtua for this project."
