Our partnership with City Fibre began in early 2020, our first project – the city of Edinburgh. Our work with City Fibre consists of installing ultrafast full fibre networks to cities throughout the UK.
Thousands of properties already completed
Since 2020 we have completed over 1900 properties in Edinburgh, 1500 in Newcastle and 1300 in Portsmouth. With more to be completed and a further 8 major cities in the planning/trial stages our teams have been hard at work keeping our cities connected.
How we are bringing superfast connectivity
Working from City Fibre’s own internal architecture we are able to install full fibre connectivity to multiple homes within these cities. Our work within the cities often starts with a survey, leading onto the design, build and finally testing. We have numerous teams working throughout the UK completing private civils, block wiring, internal and external containment, abseiling, splicing, and testing. Following the lead from City Fibre we have mostly used connectorized cabling. This cabling helps with speed and ease of install – only needing to splice one end not both making sure our teams work efficiently.
Overcoming bumps in the road
Each project has come with its own challenges, our onsite teams have delt with access issues and numerous questions from members of the public. Our office staff have needed to often think outside the box to solve design issues and help our site teams as much as possible. Keeping clear communication between City Fibre, our site teams and the owners of the properties has greatly helped us overcome any challenges.
The Future
Our work with City Fibre will be ongoing for several years, where we will be deploying their network and sending our engineers throughout the UK to continue doing an outstanding job.
