Government Telecoms Cabinet Testing

PROJECT
Virtua have been involved in several government programmes over the years, this particular programme has been ongoing for over 3 years. The project involved performing electrical testing across many locations ensuring that the electrical systems complied with BS7671 British Safety Standards.
All Telecommunications Cabinets located at these UK wide locations need to be tested every 5yrs by industry qualified electrical engineers. That’s where we came in, Virtua is a NICEIC approved contractor and our qualified engineers were tasked with undertaking this work.
SOLUTION
The works required that each Telecommunications Cabinet was tested for any faults, and a EICR (Electrical Installation Condition Report) was completed to show compliance with the standard. If a fault was found and was noted as dangerous our engineers would fix the issue straight away, if a fault was noted as not dangerous it was then reported back to the customer for approval to return to the location and fix at a time and date convenient to the client.
Typical faults found during this programme were remediation of power distribution units and new earthing requirements. Any faults found were rectified in line with BS7671.
As well as electrical testing our engineers have also been carrying out new installation works. This includes new supplies to existing Telecommunications Cabinets, the installation of new Communications Racks, site wide cabling and earthing.
Our teams have history of carrying out electrical design, installation, and system testing at thousands of locations in the UK and Europe, if you have a requirement, please do not hesitate to contact our Electrical Division at Virtua UK.
