Muddy good fun for Barretstown

Muddy good fun for Barretstown

In 2014 we took on the Tough Mudder, in 2015 the Monster race. This year our team are upping their game and running the Vision Wild Run on the 7th of May. The challenging 10k run will involve a variety of obstacles as well as lots of mud and icy water!

“We always try to promote a fit and healthy workplace at Virtua, encourage our people to have fun together and raise money for charity where we can. Last year Brian Watt one of our directors ran his 21st London marathon on behalf of Asthma UK. We sponsor Emma-Kate Lidbury a local athlete who is one of the top Ironman Professionals in the world and we do team charity events like the Wild Run. Not only should the Wild Run be great fun for our team – if being covered in mud is your thing! – but we will also be raising money for a great charity, Barretstown, who we have been supporting for a few years now”

Russell Heagney one of our directors first discovered Barretstown  whilst working in Ireland in 2012. At Barretstown they run residential camps and programmes for children and their families affected by cancer and serious illness. They offer a range of adventurous, fun and challenging activities which are supported behind the scenes by 24 hour on site medical and nursing care.

“After seeing what Barretstown did for the children that attended I knew I had to get involved, not only as a company but also as an individual. I gave my time and volunteered for the camp.  I helped out wherever possible from the activities to washing the dishes! Having 4 children myself it really hit home to what these families were going through. It was a very humbling and grounding experience made worthwhile seeing the children that attended having great fun.”
